Materials Overview
Geometric Flexibility with ESD Protection

All our rubber compounds are entirely developed in-house by our Material Science R&D team. These compounds are developed with the latest innovations in rubber technology and feature formulations that are designed specially for use in the Semiconductor industry.
Extra pure formulations that leave no marks on die, wide range of Shore A hardnesses, Static Dissipative properties, long tool life and full RoHS & REACH compliance are the hallmarks of our rubber compounds.

NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber)
Nitrile rubber (NBR) is a copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene. The physical properties of NBR are largely determined by the amount of acrylonitrile in the compound. It is the most widely used elastomer in our Die Attach Pick Up applications, having excellent resistance to abrasion with Static Dissipative properties.
NBR materials have maximum operating temperatures in the region of 130°C, and some of our compounds are able withstand excursions up to 150°C. For non-demanding applications, NBR will offer the most competitive value.
The malleability of Soft NBR (Shore A hardness 55-57) allows impact forces to be absorbed by forming to the shape of the underlying die. Like all other NBR grades, soft NBR dissipates static charge without the addition of filler materials.
The advantage of Hard NBR (Shore A hardness 90) is the ease of teaching the rubber during the setting process when softer rubbers may face issues with defining datum zero. Hard NBR is also recommended for applications with a higher bond force at continuous use temperatures below 130°C.
A proprietary ceramic technology coating is also available for our NBR compounds. This coating deposits an atomic layer of thin film on the material surface that allows for an added level of anti-stickiness protection and elevates the working temperatures of the tool to 150°C.

- Optional coating available to boost performance of standard NBR compounds
Benefits
- Minimize process interruptions due to tooling issues
- Improve process throughput and yield
- Multiple material options offers versatility for a wide range of die sizes
- Cost Effective solution that offers competitive Cost-Per-Part
HPR (High Performance Rubber)
The HPR product family is a class of elastomers with a high fluorocarbon content than NBR rubbers and can therefore withstand even higher temperatures. HPR is a high performance compound for Die Attach, Final Test and SMT applications. HPR has highly useful thermal properties and can operate at both high and low temperatures with excellent wear characteristics. The maximum operating temperature of FKM rubbers is in the region of 250-285°C, much higher than that of NBR. Standard HPR has a maximum operating service temperature between that of the hard and soft grades. The range of hardness possible with HPR rubbers is the same as that of NBR, ranging from 50 – 90 Shore A hardness. All HPR rubbers dissipate static charge without the need of filler materials.
We recommend the use of HPR rubbers for applications that requires high bond force, high temperature performance or DAF tapes requirements.
Features
- Formulated to meet the needs of the most demanding applications
- Excellent abrasion resistance and tool life through improved design
- Designed to offer protection against Electrostatic Discharge
- Maximum structural integrity for high bond force applications
- Range of hardness from Shore A 55 to Shore A 90
Benefits
- HPR compounds work with our novel tool designs to overcome demanding process challenges
- Increased longevity of performance at elevated temperatures
- Chemically resistant to most chemicals and ionizers
- Assured Pick Up performance with proven compound track record
UPR (Ultra Performance Rubber)
Our UPR Perfluoro-elastomer rubbers have the highest fluorocarbon content among our rubbers and can therefore withstand very higher temperatures, up to 400°C. They are also the most chemical resistant rubbers, having near universal chemical compatibility. However, they are the most expensive of the rubbers in our material line up. This high cost means that UPR rubbers are generally only used when no other rubber meets the application requirements.
UPR is recommend for use in extra demanding applications that operate in environments in excess of 350°C.
Features
- Able to withstand temperatures up to 400°C
- Designed to offer protection against Electrostatic Discharge
- Best-in-class chemical and ozone resistance
- Last resort go-to compound for challenging applications with no other material alternative
Benefits
- Offer an ease of mind for the most critical applications
- Prevent process contamination and minimize particulate matter on your dies and devices
- Highest level of tool reliability for harsh application parameters or environments
- Best abrasion resistance and tool life amongst all our compounds
CR (Composite Rubber)
Composite Rubbers are materials formed from mixing plastics and elastomers together, to obtain a material with properties typical of both plastic materials and rubbery materials. Our Composite Rubbers are designed to improve the performance of NBR and they are available in both Soft, Medium and Hard hardness levels that are able to withstand continuous use temperatures of up to 120°C.
Our line of Composite Rubbers are formulated with an extra high level of purity to ensure they do not leave marks on die. Composite Rubber materials givesthe tips a cushioning effect and are especially suited for applications that requires thin wall thicknesses or for tips that require flexible designs with complex geometries. Through the addition of fillers, we can obtain Static Dissipative (E6 to E9) properties for our Composite Rubbers.
For Flip Chip applications, our line of Composite Rubbers has proved to be a popular choice.
Features
- Chemically pure formulations with minimal contamination
- Designed to offer protection against Electrostatic Discharge
- Can be manufactured with very thin wall sizes
- Wide range of available hardness levels (50 to 90 Shore A)
Benefits
- Recyclable with low environmental footprint
- Geometrically flexible and suitable for tools with complex profiles
- Competitive pricing that rivals NBR
- Available in Translucent, White and Black colors
